PSA International Group CEO Tan Chong Meng Receives the Honour of the “Officer of the Order of the Star of Italy”

PSA International Group CEO Tan Chong Meng has been conferred the honour of the “Officer of the Order of the Star of Italy” (“Ufficiale dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia”). The award is one of the highest civil honours that recognises individuals who have made outstanding contributions to promote friendly relations and co-operation between Italy and other countries.

Chong Meng was presented the award by Italian Ambassador to Singapore and Brunei, Mario Vattani. Founded as a national order by the first President of the Italian Republic Enrico De Nicola in 1947, the award was later reformed by Italy’s 11ᵗʰ President, Giorgio Napolitano in 2011.

This award is a testament and affirmation of PSA’s global standing and its longstanding history and contributions in Italy. It is also an ode to all the past and present leaders, and PSA colleagues in Italy over the years, who have worked with steadfast dedication to deliver excellence and grow PSA’s presence in the country.

PSA Italy, a member of the PSA Group, operates PSA Genova Pra’ – one of the largest gateway ports in Italy, and PSA SECH in the port of Genoa; as well as the PSA Venice terminal. In total, the three terminals handle more than 2 million containers each year.

PSA’s journey in Italy first started via deepsea and coastal terminals in Genoa and Venice in 1998. Since its foray into the region, PSA has invested in and contributed to the vibrant economic fabric in the region. In 2019, PSA’s Genoa-based terminal operations rebranded from VTE to PSA Genova Pra’. The rebranding reflects the location of the terminal within the port of Genoa, as well as PSA Genova Pra’s firm commitment to its local community and synergies with the local municipality.

Growing from strength to strength, PSA Italy has been consistently serving the needs of shippers, freight forwarders, importers and exporters through a global network of connections and intermodal solutions via sea, land and rail. Most recently, building on the success of the Genoa-Basel intermodal pacesetter, PSA Italy launched the Stuttgart Express connecting PSA Genova Pra’ with Stuttgart in Southern Germany, which completed its maiden trip on 4 May.
