Sociedad Puerto Industrial Aguadulce (SPIA), a joint venture between PSA and International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI), was recently honoured with the ‘Best Contribution to International Trade’ award by the Colombian Foreign Trade Association, Adicomex. The award was given to SPIA at Adicomex’s ‘Day of the Foreign Trade Director’ event on 4 October.

Adicomex guides and supports the Colombian business sector in international trade and logistics, while serving as a voice for its members, including exporters, importers, customs agencies, logistics providers, free zones, and port operators when interacting with government institutions.

SPIA General Manager Alvaro Otero said: “This recognition underscores the dedication and hard work we have invested in building this state-of-the-art terminal over the past seven years. Moreover, the future looks promising as we embark on our expansion project, positioning us as the sole port on Colombia’s Pacific side capable of handling mega container ships.”

Since its inception in 2016, SPIA in Colombia has grown from strength to strength, most recently receiving the 396m-long mega vessel CMA CGM Alexander Von Humboldt. The state-of-the-art, multi-purpose container terminal is strategically located in Buenaventura on Colombia’s Pacific Coast and offers prime access to the country’s Golden Triangle encompassing Bogota, Medellin, and Cali.
