PSA Chennai, operated by PSA since 2009, is a major container gateway connecting Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry to global markets. Located at Chennai Port, the terminal offers three berths along an 832-metre quay and an annual handling capacity of 1.45 million TEUs. Its operations are supported by seven super-post-Panamax quay cranes, 18 rubber-tyred gantry cranes, six reachstackers and 304 reefer points. With services to Northeast and Southeast Asia, the Arabian Gulf, Europe and Africa, PSA Chennai keeps South India’s cargo connected to key international trade routes. The terminal is also advancing lower-carbon operations through hybrid RTGs and rooftop solar installations.

At PSA Chennai, sustainability is being advanced through measurable changes in how the terminal uses energy and equipment. A 468 kWp solar plant is already operational, with an additional 224 kWp scheduled for commissioning by 2026. Once complete, the combined 692 kWp solar capacity is expected to meet approximately 10% of the terminal’s annual electricity consumption. PSA Chennai also plans to convert 18 RTGs from diesel to hybrid, helping reduce fuel use and emissions across terminal operations.
