Since 2009, PSA Chennai has grown alongside South India’s expanding trade ecosystem. Today, the terminal operates three berths across an 832-metre quay, with seven quay cranes, 20 RTGs, 304 reefer points and dedicated rail connectivity.
With an annual handling capacity of 1.25 million TEUs, PSA Chennai connects South India with key markets across Asia, the Arabian Gulf, Europe and Africa, while continuing to improve efficiency and reduce emissions through renewable energy and hybrid equipment.

At PSA Chennai, sustainability is being advanced through measurable changes in how the terminal uses energy and equipment. A 468 kWp solar plant is already operational, with an additional 224 kWp scheduled for commissioning by 2026. Once complete, the combined 692 kWp solar capacity is expected to meet approximately 10% of the terminal’s annual electricity consumption. PSA Chennai also plans to convert 18 RTGs from diesel to hybrid, helping reduce fuel use and emissions across terminal operations.
