Terminal Infrastructure:

PSA Chennai secured the concession to construct and operate a Container Terminal at Chennai Port Trust in 2007. Operations commenced in 2009 with 3 QCs and 10 RTGs, scaling up to 7 QCs and 18 RTGs by 2012. In 2022, two Hybrid RTGs were added, totaling 20 RTGs.

Port Infrastructure:

Chennai Port, India’s third oldest among the 12 Major Ports, boasts 135 years of service to maritime trade. Featuring 3 docks and 24 berths with drafts from 12m to 16.5m, it serves as a pivotal Trade Hub for containers, cars, and project cargo along the East Coast. The port facilitates various truck movements through 4 operational gates, including an 8-lane RFID-enabled complex at Gate 1 for container trucks. Dedicated lanes within the port ensure efficient access to PSA Chennai. Additionally, Chennai Port hosts a scanning center and CFS facilities for cargo inspection, with CISF deployed for security.

Rail Infrastructure:

PSA Chennai stands out as the sole Container Terminal in Chennai equipped with on-dock rail siding facilities. Offering two lines of 725 meters each, capable of handling two rakes simultaneously, it provides seamless connectivity for export and import rakes. Customers benefit from direct links to Chennai Tondiapert ICD/CFS, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Delhi, and other ICDs.
